Synopsis:

Ever since she used the Firebird, her parents’ invention, to cross into alternate dimensions, Marguerite has caught the attention of enemies who will do anything to force her into helping them dominate the multiverse—even hurting the people she loves. She resists until her boyfriend, Paul, is attacked and his consciousness scattered across multiple dimensions.

Marguerite has no choice but to search for each splinter of Paul’s soul. The hunt sends her racing through a war-torn San Francisco, the criminal underworld of New York City, and a glittering Paris where another Marguerite hides a shocking secret. Each world brings Marguerite one step closer to rescuing Paul. But with each trial she faces, she begins to question the destiny she thought they shared.

The second book in the Firebird trilogy, Ten Thousand Skies Above You features Claudia Gray’s lush, romantic language and smart, exciting action, and will have readers clamoring for the next book.

My Review:

“Ten thousand skies, and a million worlds, and it still wouldn’t be enough for me to share with you. Nothing less than forever will do.”

I thought the first book was already amazing, but this one exceeded my expectations! Most book series I’ve read tend to flop around the second book – the “second book syndrome”. But it didn’t, so I’m really happy! It started out strong and not once did it falter. The whole plot just consumed me immediately, and I stayed up late to finish it! I love how I wasn’t able to expect anything that might happen in the story until I reached the end. The suspense just made me even more eager to finish everything quickly. And that ending! Now I really need to get my hands on the final book – especially with that freaking cliffhanger. Sure we didn’t get as much as travel time in other dimensions in the multiuniverse like what happened in the first book, but I loved how we get to explore those dimensions and the other main characters aside from Marguerite, Paul, and Theo.

Character-wise, I still enjoyed every bit of our lovely trio. I really liked the way that we finally get to see their different sides on different dimensions, so we can finally have a whole picture on their personalities. The biggest surprise for me was Paul. OH MY GOD PAUL. Especially in the Mafiaverse. That was one of the best twists in the book. And also the characters in the Home Office OMG OMG OMG

I cannot take how great this book is! Two thumbs up for the author for doing such an amazing job.
