Filipino Bookstagrammers I Adore: Part 1

I’ve been on Bookstagram since 2016 (on and off lol), and I’ve seen a lot of changes that happened on the platform since then. But aside from being able to promote my love for books and reading to to her bookworms like me, I was able to form a deep connection with people I’ve met through this community, and even found a unique niche that I wouldn’t be able to find among my non-bookish friends. I may have gained new friends from all over the world, but finding and meeting fellow Filipinos in this massive community was an even better experience.

In this series feature, I would like to promote these Filipino bookstagrammers that took up most of my dashboard and inbox with all their mesmerizing content. So don’t hesitate to randomly shoot them messages or comment on their posts because they won’t bite!

I’ll be featuring more bookstagrammers in my blog soon, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled!

Jewel @foxynerdyrebelle

Jewel is one of my closest friends that I met through bookstagram for years! Her fantasy recommendations and reviews are always spot-on, so I could never go wrong with her choices, and her inbox is always open so I could rant to her about pretty much anything. This cat mom with her checker-board theme featuring her creative and beautiful shots is always giving me life. The Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan, The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer, and The Daevabad Trilogy by S.A. Chakraboty are her most favorite series.

Rechel | @infinitetbrlist

Rechel, like me, just came back to bookstagram a few months ago after a long hiatus. Despite her absence, I was able to recognize her gorgeous posts from when I first started following her years ago! I am always jealous of her photos of her bookstore trips. Her top favorites are A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas, Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout, and It Ends With Us by Coleen Hoover.

Dennis | @thebookishbro

I’ve been following Dennis for a couple of years now, and I’ve always been a fan of his minimalist feed featuring a ton of fantasy books – some of which I added into my tbr list. He also featured Nicholas Eames, the author of Kings of the Wyld (another book on my tbr list) on his blog! His all-time favorites are Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo, Vicious by VE Schwab, and the Fablehaven Series by Brandon Mull

Jay Ann | @paperimaginings

My book sister from another book mother! I’ve been following her for quite some time now, and then we both learned we have an immense love for the All Souls Trilogy! If she’s not sharing any A Discovery of Witches updates on her stories, Jay Ann would stun you into silence with her gorgeous photos. Her top favorites include All Souls trilogy by Deborah Harkness, The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare, and Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas.

Alena | @alenabesamis

Alena is one of the many people I’ve met on my comeback to bookstagram months ago. She just casually slid into my DMs, and we both found out we have the same tastes in fantasy novels in our tbr lists. Her feed features a lot of knick-knacks that show her personality, and of course, books. This mystery-thriller fan also loves Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan, The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang, and The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry.

Prin | @pryngols

I met Prin through a book club a couple of years ago, and now she is one of my closest friends both in and out of the book community. Her quirky personality reflects in her beautiful photos featuring both books and her journal spreads while juggling with being a mom and a Filipino art advocate. Prin also spearheads Haliya Publishing, an independent Filipino publishing house that aims to promote and empower Filipino writers and artists. Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami, The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt, and Game of Thrones by GeorgeR.R. Martin are just some of her favorite books.

Pia | @thelibrareads

Pia’s clean bookstagram feed is really eye-catching wherein she shares and reviews a lot of popular YA and fiction books! She’s also super friendly and sweet, so don’t be afraid to approach her. Her top favorite books are The Shadowhunter Chronicles by Cassandra Clare, Six of Crows duology by leigh Bardugo, and Shades of Magic trilogy by V.E. Schwab.

Cerize | @cerizeseries

Like Prin and I, Cerize is part of the Titas and Titos of BGPH, a subgroup of our book club for years. She’s super nice (and pretty, too!) in person, and also has the same love for make-up and journaling bits as I do! If you love anime, manga, mystery thrillers, and dark academia books, you’ll enjoy Cez’ feed. Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys, Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo, and The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood are her favorite notable books.

Tristan| @paperbackboy

Tristan and I were just randomly replying and reacting to each other’s IG stories, and the next thing we knew a new friendship has formed! He is super easy and kwela to talk to about anything, and his minimalist theme features a lot of fantasy and science fiction books. Some of his absolute favorites are Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson, An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir, and A Darker Shades of Magic by V.E. Schwab.

Instagram

Andrea | @pastriesandpages

If you want to see books and food on the same photo at the same time, then look no further! Every time I see her photos on my timeline or her stories, I always find myself hungry and into sudden weird food cravings lol. She is also just as sweet and nice as the books and food she features. Andrea’s top favorites series are Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas, The Folk in the Air by Holly Black, Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, and Blood and Ash by Jennifer Armentrout.

Instagram

Rochelle | @rochreads

Roch is one of the very active Filipino bookstagrammers showing up on my feed. Her beautiful collection of fantasy books in her photos are some of my favorites and some I’ve added in my tbr list. She’s also super engaging to talk to, especially when you need a listening ear to rant about books. Her absolute favorites are The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare, A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan.

Instagram | Goodreads | Twitter

Ruth | @nessietwihard02

Ruth’s highly stylized and fantastical graphics are always something to look forward to at her every post. They’re just all magnificent and magical! She’s very active in using her platform in promoting books, especially books written by under-rated series and upcoming authors. Like me, she’s a huge a Sarah J. Maas trash! So her favorites include Throne of Glass series, A Court of Thorns and Roses, and also the Shadowhunter Chronicles by Cassandra Clare.

Noeme | @_katnissevergreen

If you’re a fan of Rick Riordan’s books, then you’ll absolutely love Noeme’s feed. Her Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus collection is astounding, but you’ll also see a good collection of fantasy and science fiction novels in her shelf. Her quirky and pleasant personality would make you easily become friends with her! Aside from Rick Riordan’s books, her other favorites are The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins and All Perfect Yours by Colleen Hoover.

Aliyah | @aliyaherondale

I always get excited whenever I would meet fellow bookworms who are in the medical field. So when I found out that Aliyah was also a medical student like me, I got really excited because we get to talk about school and books at the same time. Her simple, cozy feed and bubbly personality would make you want to be friends with her. The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare, Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, and The Winner’s Trilogy by Marie Rutskoski are just few of her favorite series.

Instagram

Riza | @pagesanddcc

I met Riza when I first joined book twitter a couple of months ago, and I saw that we were both reading The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. Ever since then, she’s been my Cosmere sister in the community! She’s super sweet and easy to talk to about almost everything under the the sun. Her favorite books are any books written by Haruki Murakami, the Cosmere Universe books by Brandon Sanderson, and A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin.

Jon | @wanderwithjon

I don’t know anyone else who can pull off a very dark eerie theme like Jon can. A huge supporter of artists, he would always feature art pieces from various online artists in his posts while also showcasing his love for books. He is also one of my huge supporters in my reading progress, and his recommendations are of top-notch. Vicious by V.E. Schwab, The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, & We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson are included in his list of favorite books.

Instagram | Goodreads | Twitter | Booktube

Jaed | @wanderlustbibliophile

Jaed is one of my closest friends and is also part of the Titos and Titas of BGPH. This is the person who you would want (or may not want) to accompany you in book shopping because she could convince you to buy something easily and leave you broke afterwards. Her similar love with fantasy books like I do and her bubbly and loud personality towards life are just some of the few things I really admire about her. Her favorite series are the Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson, A Court of Thorns of Roses by Sarah J. Maas, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan.

Amiel | @libraryofamiel

I accidentally stumbled upon Amiel’s account because of that little cute furball in the middle picture! Aside from the numerous cozy shots she features in her feed, I really love seeing her dog take the spotlight in them. I’ve done a buddy-read with her a few months ago, and I can’t wait to do another one with her again soon. This Filipina considers Becoming by Michelle Obama and The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas as a few of her favorite literary pieces.
