January Wrap-Up & February TBR

January Wrap-Up

The first month of the new year went through so slowly, as if we were in snail’s pace. Somehow, I managed to read 6 new books and reread a favorite last January – which is already impressive for me, as I tend to read at a much slower rate recently. I didn’t exactly had a favorite read this month, however there were a couple of disappointments. I’m just wishing that I would have the same experience next month.

February TBR

Like any other month, I don’t set a specific TBR, especially within the coming month as I will be getting back to my regular programming of face to face hospital duties after a month of isolation. In February, I’ll be carrying over A Master of Djinn by P. Djeli Clark and Royal Assassin by Robin Hobb which I both started around the last few days of January. I also want to continue on with my reread of The Bone Season with its second installment, as well as catch up with the A Chorus of Dragons Readalong I’m currently partaking in with The Name of All Things. Aside from these titles, pretty much everything else is open.

Blog Posts I Love

Since I’ve been recently back in the book blogging community, I’ve been doing some catch-up on other writers’ posts, and even discovered new ones to look out for! Hence I decided to make it a monthly feature from now on to give a special shoutout to the blog posts I recently loved reading.

  • I definitely love going through Bianca from Your Words My Ink‘s posts every time, and I’ve recently come to enjoy her The Best Books of 2021 list and her brief list of Most Anticipated Books of 2022 wherein a couple of titles are also in my anticipated releases!
  • My good friend Prin from Princess and Pages very extensive and detailed My Year in Books 2021 + What’s Next 2022 where she listed down all the books she had managed to read last year, and also feature her reading goals – and of course her love of plants and diamond painting!
  • Ena from Fly(er) on the Wall had made a spreadsheet for tracking down readers’ book-buying expenses! It’s definitely something to look into doing in the future, especially for impulsive book hoarders, such as myself.
  • I always have a hard time keeping track of new releases every year, so I’m eternally grateful to these wonderful people who posts them, so helpless people like me can at least try to catch up.

How was your reading month in January?

  1. I’ve always been curious with Shannon’s other works just because they’re shorter in length per single book compared to ‘The Priory of the Orange Tree’ (which I have). Although I’m not particularly inclined to pick anything but that.

  2. Thank you for mentioning me! I’m a little bummed by the rating for Electric Idol. It seems like none of my friends enjoyed it, which sucks because I was really anticipating it.

Anyway. I hope you’ll find a new favorite in February! I’m not too sure how aligned our tastes are, but my inbox is always open if you need recs. 😊
